IUPAC Nomenclature Rule:
- The longest Chain is selected as the parent Carbon chain with a maximum number of substituents.
- We number the parent carbon chain to define the location, position of multiple bonds, functional groups, and side chain.
- We number the parent chain from the side to which the side chain is nearer.
4.The longest continuous carbon chain containing the principle functional group will be selected as a parent chain. Once the principle functional group will be decided then the remaining group will behave as just like substituents.
IUPAC Nomenclature Rule for Bicyclic Compounds.
1. numbering started from one bridgehead position and follow the longest path to the second bridgehead position, after that continue the numbering along the next longest path until all carbons are numbered.
2. Find all paths between bridgehead carbon, count the carbon then arrange in order higher to lower eg.
3. put all naming together start with bicyclo then counting of carbon numbers inside the bracket.
