Step 1: Captive Breeding-
Captive breeding is the process of breeding animals and birds outside of their natural habitat. Species that are threatened or are endangered are taken into captive breeding. Usually, they are kept in a controlled environment like zoos, wildlife reserves, etc. and are closely monitored. It is done to prevent endangered and threated species from becoming extinct. Captive breeding has been successful in many animals bringing them out of the risk of extinction. Some examples are Arabian oryx, California condor and the Golden lion tamarin.

(You may or may not have seen this figure in a previous question in this exam.) In the tree, the M. tuberculosis lineages that are currently circulating in humans are indicated in color and are named L1 to L7. The pie charts on the world map indicate for each of these lineages where they occur. In the phylogenetic tree, names of Mycobacterium (M.) strains derived from non-human animals and from an ancient Peruvian mummy are written in full and are not colored.
