The European Union was formed in 1991 and was the first of its kind of a regional economic and political partnership which proved to make the economic functions work smoothly between its member countries. In 2020 the UK decided to leave the EU, in what came to be known as Brexit. In a public referendum the people vote to leave the EU. However there were some countries in UK that were against the idea of leaving and losing access to the trade and market opportunities that the membership provided to them.
