Solved in 2 steps
- There are four people who want to cross a rickety bridge; they all begin on the same side. You have 17 minutes to get them all across to the other side. It is night, and they have one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross the bridge at one time. Any party that crosses, either one or two people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth; it cannot be thrown, for example. Person 1 takes 1 minute to cross the bridge, person 2 takes 2 minutes, person 3 takes 5 minutes, and person 4 takes 10 minutes. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower person's pace. Write the specification of an algorithm that solves the problem.Three prisoners have been sentenced to long terms in prison, but due to over crowed conditions, one prisoner must be released. The warden devises a scheme to determine which prisoner is to be released. He tells the prisoners that he will blindfold them and then paint a red dot or blue dot on each forehead. After he paints the dots, he will remove the blindfolds, and a prisoner should raise his hand if he sees at least one red dot on the other two prisoners. The first prisoner to identify the color of the dot on his own forehead will be release. Of course, the prisoners agree to this. (What do they have to lose?) The warden blindfolds the prisoners, as promised, and then paints a red dot on the foreheads of all three prisoners. He removes the blindfolds and, since each prisoner sees a red dot (in fact two red dots), each prisoner raises his hand. Some time passes when one of the prisoners exclaims, "I know what color my dot is! It's red!" This prisoner is then released. Your problem…Required: Amitabh had a magical cat. That cat once fell down an empty well. As the walls of the well were not completely vertical, the cat could climb up the well. In one day, the cat can climb 1 unit height and the height of the well is h units. The cat starts at the bottom. Every day, a cat would divide into 2 cats. One of them would climb up 1 unit. The other would wait for help. But while waiting it would fall asleep and roll down 1 unit, unless it is already at the bottom, in which case it just remains there. When a cat would reach the top, it would run home toAmitabh. (Schrodinger doesn't know that some of the cats are in a well and so he can't rescue them). It has been d days since the cat fell into the well. How many cats would come out of the well today? You would notice that the number of cats grows very large with each passing day, so output the answer modulo 10^9+7. d = 0 means that the cat has fallen just now and so there's just one cat at the bottom of the well. So you…
- A hungry mouse wants to eat all four fruits in a maze such as the one below, in as few moves as possible.. At each turn the mouse can move any number of squares in one of the directions up, down, left or right, but it is not allowed to enter (or jump over) any walls (i.e., the black squares). Thus, the mouse moves just like a rook in chess. To eat a fruit, the mouse has to stop at that square. Assume that the maze has 4 fruits, and the size of b xh squares. 1. Give a suitable representatión of the states in this searching problem. 2. How many possible actions can the mouse perform at each move? (1.e., what is the branching factor?)We have n glasses which can hold a varying amount of liquid. We will say that glass1 is size q1 quarts and glass2 is size q2 quarts, etc. We now give you a size, say x quarts. You must give me a glass of exactly x quarts. You are allowed to fill any glass to exactly its size and to pour any liquid from one glass into another. When you pour, you either have to empty the glass you are pouring from or fill the glass you are pouring into. Can you do it?More concrete example: G1 has size 10 quarts. G2 has size 4 quarts. G3 has size 1 quart. You can get a 5 quart drink by filling G1, pouring 4 quarts from it into G2 and 1 quart of it into G1. After that, G1 has exactly 5 quarts. In the same problem, we could get 8 quarts by filling G2 twice and emptying it into G1 twice. Given This: Write an algorithm to do this and determine its complexity. You will be given a square chess board with one queen and a number of obstacles placed on it. Determine how many squares the queen can attack. A queen is standing on an chessboard. The chess board's rows are numbered from to , going from bottom to top. Its columns are numbered from to , going from left to right. Each square is referenced by a tuple, , describing the row, , and column, , where the square is located. The queen is standing at position . In a single move, she can attack any square in any of the eight directions (left, right, up, down, and the four diagonals). In the diagram below, the green circles denote all the cells the queen can attack from : There are obstacles on the chessboard, each preventing the queen from attacking any square beyond it on that path. For example, an obstacle at location in the diagram above prevents the queen from attacking cells , , and : Given the queen's position and the locations of all the obstacles, find and print the number of…
- Q. There is an island that has two kinds of inhabitants, knights, who always tellthe truth, and their opposites, knaves, who always lie. It is assumed that every inhabitant of theisland is either a knight or a knave. Below there are 3 inhabitants, who are denoted by A, B andC.A. What are A, B and C if A says “If B is a knave then C is a knave”, and B says “If Cis a knight then A is a knave”? Briefly explain your reasoning.B. What are A,B and C if A says “B is a knight and C is a knight”, and B says “A is aknight if and only if C is a knave”? Briefly explain your reasoning.Penalty kicks in soccer. Let's consider a situation where a football player has to faceoff the goalkeeper in a penalty kickoff. Standing infront of the goalpost, the Kicker (player 1) has several angle which he could kick the ball to the goalpost. Let's say he could kick the ball in the Left corner of the goalpost, Right corner of the goalpost or shoot straight through the Center. And, same as the player, the goalkeeper (player 2) also has three options to predict which direction the player would kick the ball and try to stop it. This game can be represented using the following 3 x 3 matrix: Left Center Right 63 37 94 95 Left 100' 100 100' 100 100' 100 100. 6 100' 100 91 9 94 Center 100' 100 100' 100 94 6 93 7 60 40 Right 100' 100 100' 100 100' 100 In the above matrix, the payoff of the kicker is the probability that he scores and the payoff of the goalkeeper is the probability that the kicker doesn't score. We know that the total probability of an event is 1, therefore, all the…A robot starts on a point marked “A” on a rectangular grid of points. The starting point is always the top left point on the grid. The robot can move left, right, up or down, moving from one point to the next. By moving in steps going left, right, up or down, the robot would like to reach a point marked “B”, which is always the bottom right point in the grid. Sometimes, points are marked as “x”, and the robot is not allowed to visit them at all. A robot is never allowed to visit a point more than once. In how many ways can the robot move from A to B and visit all points along the way? For example, in the following grid, represented in text as A . . . . B there is only one path from A to B: In the following grid, represented in text as A . . x x B there is still only one path (we're lucky because of the two x's): However, in the grid A . . . x B there are no ways for the robot to move from A to B and visit all points that are not marked with “x”. Write a single…
- Note: The code should be in Java Programming) Suppose a business person launches new cinema at Islamabad and ask his team to develop a ticket system for box office. He assigns some requirements about system that how should it work. The requirements are such a way that there are only '5' number of box office windows in the theatre. Each window can have at max '20' number of people waiting in line. To start with, only one window is opened. If the number of people waiting in line in that window exceeds 20, then the next window is opened and people can join the line in that window. Likewise, if both the first and second windows have n number of people waiting in each queue, then a third window is opened. This can go on until the maximum number of windows w is reached. Let us assume that once a window is opened it never closes. A new window is only opened if all open windows are full. Each person can buy only one ticket. So, the system should not allot more than one ticket per person. Let…A circus is designing a tower routine consisting of people standing atop one another'sshoulders. For practical and aesthetic reasons, each person must be both shorter and lighter thanthe person below him or her. Given the heights and weights of each person in the circus, write amethod to compute the largest possible number of people in such a tower.Problem You have a fence post located at the point (x,y) where a goat is tethered by a rope. You also have a house, which is a rectangle with diagonally opposite corners at the points bottom-left: (x1,y1) and top-right: (x2,y2). You want to pick a length of rope that guarantees the goat cannot reach the house. Determine the minimum distance from the fence post to the house, so that you can make sure to use a shorter rope. Recall that the distance formula is: (x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2 The input consists of a single line containing six space-separated integer values: x, y, x1, y1, x2, and y2. You are guaranteed that x1<x2 and y1<y2, and that (x,y) is strictly outside the axis-aligned rectangle with corners at (x1,y1) and (x2,y2). Return the minimum distance from the goat’s post to the house as a floating-point value from main(). Learning Objectives Be able to create a program with a lesser template. Be able to calculate the min/max of integers. Be able to write a mathematical…
