The wheel in the figure below has eight equally spaced spokes and a radius of 30 cm. The wheel is mounted on a fixed axle and is spinning at 2.0 rev/s. You want to shoot a 20 cm long arrow parallel to this axle and through the wheel without hitting any of the spokes. What minimum speed (in m/s) must the arrow have? Assume the spokes, the arrow and the rim of the wheel are very thin. Focus on the amount of time the arrow has to get through the wheel without getting hit by a spoke. The spokes divide the circle of the wheel into 8 sections. Assume that the arrow hits the plane of the wheel just when the spoke is moving out of the way.
