How many revolutions does the CD make as it spins to a stop?
A wheel that is initially at rest has forces applied to it, as shown in the figure, and it begins to rotationally accelerate.
Calculate the net torque about the axle of the wheel shown in figure. Assume that a friction torque of 0.95 m⋅N opposes the motion.
Two blocks, each of mass m, are attached to the ends of a massless rod which pivots as shown in the figure. Initially the rod is held in the horizontal position and then released.
Calculate the magnitude of the net torque on this system when it is first released. Use the fact that l2>l1.
