A single-stage, single-acting air compressor with runs at 700 r/min. It has
a polytropic index of 1.25. The induced volume flow rate is 0.65 m³/min
and the air must be delivered at 700 kPa. The free air conditions are
101.3 kPa and 15 °C. The clearance volume is 6% of the stroke volume
and the stroke/bore ratio is 1.5/1.
Draw a P-V-diagram to illustrate the operation of the compressor and
indicate the stroke volume, clearance volume and induced volume.
Calculate:
The volume of air induced into the compressor,
The stroke volume of the cylinder,
The bore of the piston,
The volumetric efficiency,
The delivery air temperature,
The indicated power.
