A semiconductor is a material that has _____ energy band gap.
a)no
b)wide
c)narrow
d)nuclear

Step 1
Energy band gap is the difference in the energy between the conduction band and the valance band. A conduction band is the band where the free electrons lie and the valance band lies below the conduction band. An electron in the valanced band cannot directly jump into conduction band until unless the energy provided to it reach a level that is sufficient to cross the energy barrier between conduction band and the valance band, which is the band gap energy.
