Question
Kindly solve all parts

Transcribed Image Text:A quarry sand conveyor is driven by a 20 kW motor, 3 phase soft start, via a V- belt drive
system. The conveyor operates 24 hours per day. It is stopped intermittently by a band brake
system. If the head drum speed is 430 rpm and the motor speed is 960 rpm, recommend the
size and the number of belts required. The distance between the centers is 612mm.
Use a V- belt selection chart and briefly explain the procedure you have used or the steps you
have gone through in selecting the belt/belts.
()
For the given arrangement, what is the lap angle that the belt subtend, on the smaller
pully!
(ii)
What is the maximum belt tension when transmitting 20kW at the running speed given?
(ii)
What is the initial belt tension required?
Note: You
have to do research to find a value for the friction coefficient between the belt
may
material and the pully.
