An elastic analysis of the normal stresses through a composite section are required when determining the deflection of a composite beam and can occasionally be used to limit the design strength to a yield condition.

a) Determine the location of the neutral axis (N.A.) with respect to the bottom flange
of the steel beam.

b) Calculate the normal stress at the top of the concrete slab and the normal
stress at the top and bottom of the steel beam with a moment of 200 kip-ft 

c) What is the new location of the neutral axis?
