Genome refers to the complete set of genes or the complete genetic makeup of an individual organism. Genes are responsible for controlling social characteristics (traits) in an organism.
Genome-wide association studies are research studies that involve the study of the effects of genes and how these genes are linked to their specific traits.
In the GWAS, the small genomic variants called the SNPs (Small Nucleotide Polymorphisms) are studied which are statistically correlated to their traits/ disease.
