Wilhelm Gottlieb Tennemann (1761–1819)

Tennemann, Wilhelm Gottlieb (ten’ė-män). A German philosopher; born at Brembach near Erfurt, 1761; died in 1819. His most important work is a ‘History of Philosophy’ (11 vols., 1798–1819); he wrote also: ‘Doctrines and Opinions of the Disciples of Socrates on the Immortality of the Soul’ (1791); ‘Plato’s System of Philosophy’ (4 vols., 1792–94).
