Thomas Hill Green (1836–1882)
Green, Thomas Hill. An English philosopher and humanist; born in Birkin, Yorkshire, April 7, 1836; died at Oxford, March 26, 1882. His profound learning and attractive personal qualities made him a strong influence in British thought, and the chief exponent of the Neo-Hegelian movement. His works include: ‘Introduction to Hume’; ‘Treatise on Human Nature’; ‘Collected Writings’; and ‘Prolegomena to Ethics.’ (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
