Theodor von Bernhardi (1802–1887)

Bernhardi, Theodor von (bern-här’dē). A German historian and diplomat; born in Berlin, Nov. 6, 1802; died at Kunesdorf, Silesia, Feb. 12, 1887. His diplomatic career was important, and afforded him special facilities for compiling a ‘History of Russia and of European Politics during the Years 1814–31’ (1863–77); ‘Frederick the Great as a Military Commander’ (1881); and similar works. His political views excited attention at the outbreak of the Great War.
