Sir John William Dawson (1820–1899)

Dawson, Sir John William. A Canadian geologist and writer; born in Picteu, NS, Oct. 13, 1820; died at Montreal, Nov. 19, 1899; made many important discoveries in the science of geology, and wrote largely on geological subjects. His publications include: ‘Archaia, or Studies of Creation in Genesis’ (1859); ‘Air Breathers of the Coal Period’; ‘Chain of Life’ (1884); and ‘Egypt and Syria’ (1885).
