Sir John Davies (1570–1626)

Davies, Sir John. An English poet and judge; born in Tisbury, Wiltshire, April 1570; died in London, Dec. 8, 1626. His legal and judicial career was one of great distinction, cut short by sudden death. His rank as a poet is conferred by ‘Know Thyself,’ ‘The Orchestra,’ and ‘Hymns to Astræa,’ and others.
