Paul Déroulède (1846–1914)
Déroulède, Paul (de-rö-lād’). A French poet; born at Paris, Sept. 2, 1846; died in 1914. His ‘Soldier Songs’ (1872) and ‘Military Refrains’ (1888) were immensely popular. He wrote a drama of patriotism, ‘The Hetman’ (1877), and the semi-religious drama ‘The Moabitess’ (1880). His plays: ‘Messire Duguesclin’ (1895) and ‘La Mort de Hoche’ (1897) were successful.
