Pradon, Nicolas (prä-dô
‘). A French tragic poet; born at Rouen, 1632; died at Paris, 1698. Besides many fugitive poems, he wrote: ‘Tamerlane’ (1677); ‘Phædra and Hippolytus’ (1677); ‘The Troad’ (1679); ‘Statira’ (1683); ‘Regulus’ (1688); ‘Scipio Africanus’ (1697); and his most famous work, ‘Pyramus and Thisbe.’
