Luigi Alberti (1822–1898)

Alberti, Luigi (äl-ber’tē). An Italian dramatist and poet; born in Florence, 1822; died in 1898. Of his numerous comedies (collected, Florence, 1875), ‘Peter the Workman’ is considered the best. A fantastic drama, ‘Asmodeo’ (1885), gave rise to lively literary discussions on its first performance in 1887.
