Karl August Nicander (1799–1839)

Nicander, Karl August (nē-kän’der). A Swedish poet; born at Strengnäs, 1799; died in 1839. His ‘Death of Tasso’ (1826) is very well known; other noted works by him are: ‘The Runic Sword,’ a tragedy in verse (1821); ‘King Enzio’ (1825); and ‘Recollections of the South’ (1828).
