Joseph Kearney Foran (1857–1931)

Foran, Joseph Kearney. A Canadian poet and novelist; born in Greenpark, Aylmer, PQ, 1857; died in 1931. Among his poems the best known are a ‘Lament for Longfellow’ and ‘Indian Translations.’ From 1879 till 1883 he published a series of essays on monuments, coins, art; and subsequently ‘Irish-Canadian Representatives: Their Past Acts, Present Stand, and Future Prospects’; ‘The Spirit of the Age’; also two novels—‘Tom Ellis, a Story of the Northwest Rebellion,’ and ‘Simon, the Abenakis.’
