João Ernesto Biester (1829–1880)

Biester, João Ernesto (bēs’ter). A Portuguese dramatist (1829–80); born at Lisbon. He wrote some 90 plays, the most noteworthy among them being ‘The Nineteenth-Century Gentleman’; ‘Luck and Labor’; ‘The Scandal-Mongers’; and ‘Eternal Spring.’
