John Denison Baldwin (1809–1883)

Baldwin, John Denison. An American journalist, politician, poet, and writer on archæology; born at North Stonington, CT, Sept. 28, 1809; died at Worcester, MA, July 8, 1883. After studying law and theology, he entered journalism, was long editor and proprietor of the Worcester Spy, and became member of Congress (1863–69). He wrote: ‘Raymond Hill, and Other Poems’ (1847); ‘Prehistoric Nations’ (1869); ‘Ancient America’ (1872).
