Eichhorn, Johann Gottfried (ī’ċh’horn). A German historian and Oriental scholar; born in Dörrenzimmern, Oct. 16, 1752; died in Göttingen, June 25, 1827. ‘A Critical and Historical Introduction to the Old Testament’ (1780–83); ‘General History of Literature and Culture in Modern Europe’ (1796–99); and ‘History of Literature’ (1799); besides other studies.
