Patton, Jacob Harris. An American historical writer; born in Fayette County, PA, May 20, 1812; died in 1903. Among his publications are: ‘A Concise History of the American People’ (2 vols., 1860–82); ‘Yorktown, 1781–1881’ (1881); ‘The Democratic Party, its History and Influence’ (1884); and ‘The Natural Resources of the United States’ (1888).
