Gnaeus Naevius (c. 270– c. 200 B.C.)

Naevius, Gnaeus (nē’vē-us). A Roman poet; born in Campania, 270? B.C.; died in 200? B.C. He wrote dramas and an epic on the Punic wars, but only fragments of his works are extant. The ancients, Cicero in particular, considered him a great genius.
