Giunio Palmotta (1607–1657)
Palmotta, Giunio (päl-mot’tä). A Dalmatian poet; born at Ragusa, 1607; died in 1657. Among his works are: ‘The Christiad; or, Life of Jesus Christ,’ in 24 cantos (1670); some dramas, as ‘Atalanta,’ ‘Œdipus,’ ‘The Rape of Helen’; and the poem ‘Glorious History of the Slav Kings of Dalmatia.’
