Allen, Fred Hovey. An American clergyman and writer; born at Lyme, NH, Oct. 1, 1845; died in 1926. He wrote the text of several popular art works, among which are included: ‘Great Cathedrals of the World’; ‘Modern German Masters’ (1886); ‘The Doré Album’; and other works on art.
