Dimitrije Demeter (1811–1872)

Demeter, Dimitrije (dem’ė-ter). A Croatian dramatist and poet; born at Agram, July 21, 1811; died there, June 24, 1872. His principal dramas are: ‘Love and Duty’; ‘Blood-Revenge’; and the tragedy ‘Teuta.’ He wrote a lyro-epic poem, ‘The Battlefield of Grobnik,’ and several stories. He translated several foreign dramatic works into Croatian.
