Carl Fredrik Ridderstad (18071886)
Ridderstad, Carl Fredrik (rid’er-städ). A Swedish novelist and poet; born in Södermannland in 1807; died in 1886. He was a member of the Riksdag, and famous for his eloquence and patriotism. He is the author of several historical romances, the best of which are ‘The Halberdier’ and ‘The Prince’; a number of novels in imitation of Eugène Sue, including ‘Mysteries of Stockholm’ and ‘The Black Hand’; and many lyrics, in which line he was most successful.
