Antony Brewer (fl. 1655)

Brewer, Antony. An English dramatist who lived in the seventeenth century. He is the author of ‘The Love-Sick King’ (1655), reprinted as ‘The Perjured Nun’ (1680). The ascription to him of ‘Lingua, or the Combat of the Five Senses for Supremacy’ (1607), ‘The Merry Devil of Edmonton’ (1608), and ‘The Country Girl’ (1647) is now recognized to be without foundation.
