Antoine Frédéric Ozanam (1813–1853)
Ozanam, Antoine Frédéric (ō-zä-nä
‘). A French scholar and writer; born in Milan, 1813; died Sept. 1853. In 1844 he succeeded Fauriel as professor of foreign literature at the Sorbonne, Paris. He attained eminence as a lecturer, and published besides other works: ‘Dante and the Catholic Philosophy in the Thirteenth Century’ (1839); ‘Germanic Studies for Use in the History of the Franks’ (2 vols., 1847–49).
