Angel Fernández de los Ríos (1821–1880)
Fernández de los Ríos, Angel (fer-nän’deth dā lōs rē’ōs). A Spanish publicist, topical and descriptive writer, and journalist; born in Madrid, July 27, 1821; died in 1880. Active in politics and political journalism at home, he was banished at last, and became a man of letters in Paris. To his credit are placed ‘All or Nothing’ (1876), an anti-Bourbon prose study of social conditions; ‘A Week in Lisbon’ (1876); and many essays on the politics and resources of the Peninsula.
