Alice Morse Earle (1851–1911)

Earle, Mrs. Alice Morse. An American writer; born in Massachusetts in 1851; died on Feb. 16, 1911. Among her numerous works on the manners and customs of the colonial period in New England and New York are: ‘Curious Punishments of Bygone Days’; ‘Customs and Fashions in Old New England’; ‘Colonial Dames and Goodwives’; ‘Colonial Days in Old New York’; ‘Two Centuries of Costume in America.’
