Algernon Sidney (1623–1683)

Sidney or Sydney, Algernon. An English republican patriot; born at Penshurst, Kent (?), 1623; died at London on the scaffold, Dec. 7, 1683. He wrote ‘Discourses Concerning Government,’ his political confession of faith (1698).
