What is the SI Unit of Momentum?

Answer – The standard unit of momentum in the International System of Units (SI) is kilogram-meter per second (kg·m/s).

Explanation:

Momentum is a vector quantity i.e., it has both magnitude and direction. It’s calculated by multiplying an object’s mass by its velocity.

Momentum (p) = mass in kg × velocity in m/s.

Therefore, the SI unit of momentum is kg·m/s. In the CGS system, it is gram-centimeters per second (g⋅cm/s). In addition, newton-second (N·s) is dimensionally equivalent to the momentum unit kilogram-meter per second (kg·m/s).
