What is the Definition of Tissue in Biology?

Answer – A tissue is defined as a group of cells that have similar structures and function together as a unit.

Explanation:

Tissues can be simple (made of only one type of cell) or complex (composed of different types of cells working together). Each type is designed for specific functions.

For example, epithelial tissues are composed of cells that make up the body’s outer covering and the membranous covering of internal organs (including the intestines and respiratory tract), the abdominal cavity, and canals. This tissue forms a protective layer over the body’s surfaces, preventing injury, chemical effects, and drying.
