What is Brine?

Answer – Brine is a highly concentrated water solution of common salt (sodium chloride).

Explanation:

The word “brine” has its origins in Old English brīne. Natural brines occur underground, in salt lakes, or as seawater. They serve as a commercial source of common salt and other salts, such as chlorides and sulfates of magnesium and potassium. Brine is used as a preservative in meat packaging and pickling. It also finds application in the de-icing of roads during winter.
