Both activities have shown me that the definition of a complex problem is in itself complex (Funke, 1991) and is subject to many interpretations by different researchers (Gray, 2002 and Wenke et al, 2005). It has also shown me that presenting a problem in a different manner can affect how the solutions are thought about (Gambrill, 2006). ACTIVITY 3 A MODEL FOR COMPLEX PROBLEM SOLVING Activity 3 looked at McWhinney’s Model of Change (1997), how it could be utilised to solve complex problems and how it can be related to the model. The 4 modes of reality are the basic element of the model; these are known as Unitary, Sensory, Social and Mythic (McWhinney et al, 1997). This provided the foundation for the model on which the 6 modes of change, 12 directional methods, 6 leadership styles and 6 games of change were built. Each mode of change had 2 directional methods attached to it, that work in oppounit to one another and it was the utilisation of these different methods that guided the user to think about alternative solutions to a problem. For example, when the British Army decided to install a new deployable maintenance software system, the management used the facilitate directional method to see how the idea would be received by the suppliers, using their feelings from the social reality to create the vision and ideas for the new system in the mythic reality using the oppounit
The first part of the model has three fundamental questions. The first part is called, Aim: What are we trying to accomplish? The second part is, Measures: How will we know a change is an improvement? The third part is called, Changes: What change can we make that will result in improvement?
Havelock’s model of change will be used for this project. Perception of need, diagnosis of the problem, identification of the problem, devising a plan of action, gaining acceptance of the plan, stabilization, and self-renewal are all steps included in Havelock’s model of change (Kearney-Nunnery, 2012). Leadership is also an important part of the change process. In order to have a positive outcome, the leader must incorporate the staff in the change process.

The aim of this essay is to give the reader an overview of the types of study skills necessary for a student to study for and attain a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. In it I will discuss my personal approach to study and the study skills I need to use on the programme. The essay will highlight the skills I feel are my current strengths and draw attention to the areas I need to develop. I will briefly describe and evaluate some different reflective models and in relation to these explain the type of reflective model I use and how this helps me to understand how I can improve my learning experience and my study skills in order to study more proactively.
I always thought that my writing skills were pretty good until I started this class. It has been thirteen years since I graduated high school and I quickly realized that I had a lot of “refreshing” to do as far as writing papers. I actually felt very discouraged when I took the grammar test and did not score very well. I knew that I had to dedicate myself and put a lot of effort into this class to really improve. The practice quizzes were a major help to refresh on everything I must have forgotten since high school. Being able to write a quality paper is a skill that everyone should master. Writing is such a major part of communication in this day and age so being able to write an intelligent paper will benefit you not just through school but also through life. Overall after reading the text InternQube: Professional Skills for the Workplace, this text was very useful as well as interesting. I was able to get a better understanding on what type of mindset I should have going into the workplace every day. This includes daily goals and routines, the way I should professional dress, how I should conduct myself on a professional level in front of people of higher status. InternQube was excellent for my first couple weeks at my internship Stenton Family Manor. First I was able to write up daily work objectives to what I needed to get done for the day. These objectives consist of work practices that would better help me in my field of management. I develop questions for myself such as, what does it take
