Have you ever been on a vacation outside of the United States? Vacations can be very enjoyable, fun, and memorable. There are many different vacation destinations that attract visitors and tourists today. Two of my favorite vacations were during the summer months following my completion of fifth and sixth grade. When I was in fifth grade, our family vacationed at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. We went to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey the following year after I completed sixth grade. These destinations are similar in many ways but also have a lot of differences. The Atlantis Resort is located on the island of the Bahamas. You may have seen commercials advertising Atlantis on TV or maybe you have been …show more content…
Instead of taxis, Wildwood has trolleys that take you to and from the boardwalk. Atlantis and Wildwood are both very different and at the same time they are similar. Similarly, they both are vacation places that attract many visitors and foreigners. Both also have a lot of activities for all ages and each has numerous water activities. People go to both of these resorts to vacation and enjoy the beach and water activities. While the Atlantic Ocean surrounds both Atlantis and Wildwood, the color of the water is completely different and its temperature is also different. The ocean water in Atlantis is so clear that I can see to the bottom of the ocean, but the water in Wildwood is darker and not as clear to allow me to see to the bottom. It’s easy to figure out why people vacation at beach resorts. These places give people on vacation a lot of fun activities to do and let people relax if they want to. There are a lot of fun memories made at beach resorts and it doesn’t matter if they are in the Bahamas or in New Jersey. Summer vacations always have been about going to the beach and having a lot of fun activities to do while with my family and friends. I will always remember all the good memories from Atlantis and Wildwood and hope there will be a lot
While one summer vacation, one may choose to spend time with the people they cared about. Some families travel in the summer and explore exotic vacation spots. Some places one can vacation at are Disneyland, Universal Studios or just visiting relatives in other states. When people are on summer break, they may feel refreshed to start learning or teaching for the next school year.
Atlantis was described to be a large island, which once existed on the Atlantic Ocean but in the form of an allegory that was mentioned by Plato in his works of Timaeus and Critias. The Atlantis in both of Plato’s works was presented as an antagonist city possessing of great naval power that encircles the Ancient City of Athens, a complete pseudo – historic embodiment of Plato’s desired ideal state in the works of Plato’s republic. Somewhere in the story of Plato’s works, it was told that the city of Athens was successful in repelling an attack set by Atlantis City, and at the epilogue of the story, Atlantis city drowns and forever submerges under the depths of Atlantic Ocean, as its loss on their favour from the Gods. The story of Atlantis city/island was told in many other versions around the globe, but sadly it does not exist in the real world we live in, even though we’ve modernized and advanced ourselves through the change of time and history. Conversely, there were news and discoveries about an evidence in the form of an archaeological land and underwater sites in various locations in different countries, but one unique location was chosen as that evidence, which proves the past
The lost city of Atlantis is believed to be found off of Spain. A Us team may have found it in the mud flats in southern Spain. For instance' a tsunami could have wiped out Atlantis and sank it in the mud flat of Spain. The team analyzed satellite imagery of a suspected submerged city just north of Cadiz, Spain and a team of archaeologists and geologists in 2009 and 2010 used a combination of deep-ground radar digital mapping & underwater technology to survey the site so in conclusion the lost city may have been founds off of the mud flats of Spain
Atlantis is a city that was never found or even placed on a map but only mentioned in a book
Atlantis was considerably wealthy, with abundant gold statues ("The Lost Continent of Atlantis"), Ivory, and Orchalcum (Braymer 16), "a precious yellow metal that was once considered second in value only to gold" (Frimmer 130), to show off its riches. It was a virtual paradise, with large harbors for trade, hot and cold springs, public baths, "a racecourse which made a full circuit of the outer ring of land" (Braymer 17), abundant harvests, and extremely large armies and a powerful navy (Frimmer 131). The political system was practically a Utopia, with equal rights for all and a refusal to accept slavery as a part of its culture. Entities that pursued the issue or attacked the ideals were forcefully detained, and invaders were crushed with similar effectiveness ("Timeus, Page 2"). Unfortunately the citizens of Atlantis, after Atlas and his nine brothers had passed on, began to take their good fortunes for granted, and Zeus punished them severely - the whole continent sank into the earth in a day and a night (Frimmer 132).
Plato told a story about the City of Atlantis around 360 B.C. The founders of the lost City of Atlantis were half god and half human. They established a utopian civilization and it became a great aquatic power. Their home was made up of concentric islands separated by wide moats and linked by a canal that penetrated to the center. These beautiful islands were filled with all different types of objects. Some of these objects were gold, silver, and other extravagant metals. This island had a rare type of exotic wildlife. Near this city was a fantastic capital city in the central island. Different parts of this lost city are said to be located somewhere in the Mediterranean, off the coast of Spain, even under what is now Antarctica. "Pick a spot on the map, and someone has said that Atlantis was there," says Charles Orser, curator of history at the New York State Museum in Albany. Said by this man, Atlantis could be anywhere.

When I was in eighth grade I went on my first trip out of the country to Nassau, Bahamas. Going on this trip was one of the most exciting and unforgettable times of my life. Not only was it a fun experience, it was also the first time I realized that I love traveling. While there I was lucky enough to visit many places, such as Blue Lagoon Island and the beautiful Atlantis Resort, and immerse myself in the Bahamian culture. My time in The Bahamas was not my only great memory from that trip. The journey to get to The Bahamas itself was also quite interesting.
The legend of Atlantis remains as one of history’s most outstanding mysteries, dating all the way back to 360 BC. with Greek philosopher Plato’s first recount of what is now known as the tale of the lost continent of Atlantis. The tale of the said civilisation has captured the interest of people for centuries, having sparked a number of theories, mainly in relation as to whether or not the continent of Atlantis truly exists or is only a myth. Historians such as Ignatius Donnelly, Bettany Hughes, Alan Alford and James Romm share their respective beliefs and interpretations on the many intriguing perceptions behind the truth of Atlantis.
