Everyone has to work as a group in something of their life and no one wants to work with a sore loser or winner. Furthermore, sports may not seem like they teach kids about life, but they improve social qualities and the ability to accept winning and losing appropriately. If someone you know wants to improve their kids grades find an extracurricular activity that they are interested and sign them up. It not only improves grades but they can improve friendships and qualities that might be needed when the kids grow
Playing sports or even having the knowledge of them can result into happier and more social students. In the video Notebook: Kids and Sports, Katie Couric states, “Playing sports cannot only give kids more confidence, it can also give them more rewarding friendships” (Notebook). This implies that our school can be more successful if we have greater variety of sports kids can join. Although being happier and more social isn't the only benefit of being in sports.
For example school work and grades. In the video called “How much is too much,” by KCRA It states that sports and help kids with keeping grades up. The buissiere your schedule was the easier it was to prioritize what needed to get done. Altho sports could help with grades at could also make them decrease. In an article called “ Are High School Sports God For Kids,” It says that winning a competition for the sport they're playing can stress them out and only keep their mind on winning. When playing the sport and being under the pressure of wanting to win could change the importance of education to the kid. The kid could then not get good grade and affect if they get into college.
One reason that kids should play sports is because it can help them in school. This explains that when kids are active and in some type of sports they can be improved with school and other things such as grades and determining if their stuff gets turned in on time. As you can see sports are a great thing for younger kids to keep them well in school and keep their brains intact in education.

At a young age I was introduced to basketball and volleyball, and ever since the love for these two sports have grown and play a big role in my life. Today, as a competitive athlete, I have learned how to be a leader, what it takes to be successful, and that nothing in life will be handed to you. My role of being a leader all began when I was in third grade on the basketball court. I was the only one that knew how to dribble, so my role was to be the "point guard,” the person who leads the team on offence. Still today I play this role; I am currently the captain of my varsity basketball team and was the captain of my successful volleyball team. Many would believe that all sports have nothing but great benefits to bring to people who participate in them, nevertheless, sports can too have negative effects on its participants. Those negative effects often include leading athletes into unhealthy methods to keep up their performances, serious sport injuries, and bullying from recreation leaders that can cause severe emotional distress. Being my research paper about the negative effects of sports on youth, it is why I have chosen these three following articles, because they talk about the trending issues youth faces today from sports. As a result, from reading these articles I have come to a conclusion of what actions I should take as a recreation management to avoid these negative effects on the participants.
Yet another thing sports can do is teach a player many life lessons. According to Scope Magazine's Tim O'Shei, sports teaches perseverance, team spirit, and fun. Many sports coaches will not allow players to participate in a game if the player's homework is not done on time. Some studies even show that some grades may drop after the season is over because of the lack of motive in a student. A student could also learn how to be a good sport by congratulating his or her team even if they lose. They should learn to be a good sport because whether the team wins or loses, the good spirit of the team would remain. A good team spirit could also make it fun and motivational for everyone else. The perseverance, team spirit, and fun in a team player could make both a good role model and a fun person to be around.
Most would assume that the only health benefit that results from participating in sports is the physical body portion. Physique is crucial in developing a pleasurable body, but tangible appearance will not be the only health issue affected by playing sports. Mental health will be the most important factor influenced by team-based activities. The athlete will have improved self-worth and value. This confidence will provide a sense of control and mastery which can improve performance. Student athletes will demonstrate a more positive well-being and willingness to work diligently for any task (Forrester and Webb). With this positivity, student athletes will more professionally and maturely handle stressful and disappointing situations on and off the field. Sports will provide the individual with opportunities to overcome adversity and accomplish challenges resulting in a heightened self-esteem (Forrester and Webb). The ability to more easily focus in the classroom will be evident in the student athlete, given their experience of extreme concentration playing sports. Most students that play sports only get to see their parents for a short time of the day, or sometimes not until the weekend. Sports can cause students not to be able to work a lot.
