Investigation Plan
Problem
When you boil a pot of water on the stove, it takes a while until it boils. What do you think would happen if you put salt in the boiling pot of water? When ice forms on the streets, it can be dangerous and cause accidents. What do you think would happen if we put salt on the streets before the water froze?
Hypothesis
When you put salt in a pot of boiling water, that will raise the temperature of the water, and the water will boil faster. When you put salt on the streets before the water freezes, the salt will cause the water to freeze at a lower temperature. This makes it to where the ice takes longer to freeze.

Procedure
To start one of these experiments, I will need a pot of water and a stove. I
I have lived in a place that during the winter, ice would form on the streets and sidewalks and have wondered why things such as salt or sand are used over other methods to help de-ice the surfaces? Why is salt or sand the most commonly used substances when addressing this issue?
If saltwater is applied to a plant, the plant would shrivel up and die. This is a result of the water moving out of the cells in order to try to balance the concentration of solute compared to inside the cell. The water movement out of the cell would cause the cell to shrink and the lack of water would eventually cause the plant to die.
| Can see particles of both. When mixed with water salt dissolves and sand is left. After filter sand is left and salt-water goes through. After evaporations of salt-water, salt is only left in dish.
The experiment is to observe a variety of chemical reactions and to identify patterns in
Montana and many other states use road salt as a deicer in the winter weather to improve driving conditions. Residuals of the road salt are easily washed away as part of storm water runoff from roads and borrow pit salt storage areas or other common activities such as vehicle spray. The extra salts enter water ways and cause potential harm. This paper explores the water quality issues associated with the use of road salts as well as other basic concerns surrounding road salt use. It is a topic that is both especially relatable to Montana and also a water quality topic of serious concern that is often overlooked.
The objective of this experiment is to test the melting point of ice against different variables. I will use a control of ice against air and test this next to ice in water, sugar on ice, salt on ice and Baking Soda on ice. By measuring the melting time of each element on an ice cube I will be able to tell which element affects ice’s melting properties at what rate.
For this experiment, there is several materials needed to have a successful lab experiment. This includes the basic utensils such as the datasheets, pencil, and a notepad to add additional notes. Following the list of materials, you will need three bottles to collect sampling water
The Effect of Salt on Radish Seed Growth along the Nelson River in Ensi county, Indiana.
Salt water is toxic to our bodies because the body eventually fails when it has to try to get rid of the salt that enters our bodies if we were to drink salt water. The body normally gets rid of excess salt by the kidneys producing urine, but it needs regular water to dilute the salt in our body for our kidneys to work properly. Normally that is not a problem because we drink water and eat foods with water in them. Tissue in our bodies also contains water that can be used. But if there is too much salt in our bodies, our kidneys cannot get enough water to dilute the salt and our bodies will shut down due to kidney failure.
Materials: Two-500 ml beaker, a source for warm/hot water and room temperature water, stirring rods, a container full of salt, cup for the salt, a scale, heat pads, a thermometer, safety googles and aprons. Procedure: 1. A beaker was filled with 100 ml of room temperature of water that had a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius measured by a thermometer.
In other words, it takes less energy to raise the temperature of the salt water 1°C than pure water. And in the winter time, adding salt to the ice lowers its freezing point, so even more energy has to be absorbed from the environment in order for it to melt.
“Salt, A World History,” is an extensive aspect of world history by Earth’s one edible rock - salt. The book begins at the start of recorded history, and highlights humanity’s dependence on salt, up to roughly present day times. It focuses on the effect salt had on, and its contributions to, humankind. The book details how salt affected, economics, religion, science, and culinary practices all over the world.
Ice is something we use and see every day, whether it is a block in our freezer or an icicle hanging from our roof. Ice is an important, yet subtle, part of our world. Ice is most commonly used to cool down our drinks and if you have ever noticed that ice in different shapes melt at different rates, then you are on to something. Ice with greater surface areas melt faster than ice with lesser surface areas.
During the winter months in Toronto, we often see road salt used so much that once there was even a shortage! Most people from Toronto have to know that we use salt on our road, and some even use it on their driveways, but few know what the road salt actually does and how it affects us in the long run. The issue I'm going to be discussing today is whether we should or shouldn't put salt on our roads. There is no other solution than to not do this, so I’m writing to you today to tell you why I think this. Initially, The salt that we put onto the road ends up affecting water quality.
Society is made up of many different people with all different views, customs, and beliefs. Even during a mother’s pregnancy, each human being is being molded and shaped differently. People grow up in different environments and parents raise their children differently. A person might have their own personality, such as being friendly or shy, but they develop to be friendly or shy based on how they grew up. From infancy till eighteen people develop a way of thinking about things and later in their lives they will use their process of thinking about issues whether politically or morally. All the different views and types of people don’t all mix together smoothly and issues arise. “Social problems are described most simply as perplexing
