The Holocaust During World War II, a destruction known to many as the Holocaust began and slaughtered more than six million Jews. This event caused many to cower in fear before Hitler and his army. Many of the victims had not only their bones and life broken, but they also had their spirits taken away from them being replaced by fear. However, some victims were able to keep their head held high and triumph with the power of Love, Laughter, and Nature. One factor that caused many to endure was Love. In the book Yellow Star, a young girl named Syvia hid with her family in a Lodz ghetto because of the slaughter of other children except for twelve of them. However, Syvia is able to endure this event because of the love from her family. For example, Syvia was able to sneak out of her attic and eat a pear, but also grabs a second pear for her little sister because she knows how rare a pear is during that time period. (Doc B) Another example of love being shown would be from “An interrupted Life and Letters from Westerbork,” where a young woman expressed her love to others by sending letters to “Father Han” and her dear friend Maria. (Doc E) …show more content…
For instance, in Yellow Star, Syvia says “It hurt Mama to give me life? Why? Didn’t I just pop out of her belly button?” This statement caused her family to “burst into laughter.” Then, her dad tells her “Syvia, you are a tonic for helping us forget our pain,” which means that they were able to temporarily overcome their current pain. (Doc A) Similarly, in The Book Thief, a young gi0rl named Liesel and her family hid a Jewish man named Max in their basement from the Nazis. One day, Liesel brought handfuls of snow into the based and had a snowball fight with Max and her family. According the book, they “could not contain the small snatches of laughter” even during such a serious event. (Doc
Imagine being plucked from your home and being brought to a camp to die or to work. Six million Jews died during the holocaust, but during this time there was hope. Even through difficult situations, the human spirit will always triumph. Laughter, love, and beauty of nature were what got these people through their tough times. For the people who were forced into hiding or being stuck at a camp, laughter could make them forgot everything around them.
Love is in the air, and love should be everywhere. We may sometimes express it in the funniest ways. In the book Yellow Star, a little girl named Syvia is imprisoned in Lodz with her family. She survived because the sacrifices her family made (Doc. B). For example, “mother does not eat her meal… she gives it to me” (Doc. A); her mother was loving and caring. Syvia’s mom gave her food, even though there wasn’t much left.
In 1939, during World War 2, over 6 million Jews were persecuted and killed. This massive conflict is known as the Holocaust. So many innocent people died in vain because a person wanted to make a country a better place, but not the world. Although 6 million Jews died, some Jews manage to survive thanks to their undying force of will through laughter, love, and nature. Love is one thing that helped people’s spirits to go on.
During the Holocaust, about six million Jews died. Some were taken to concentration and execution camps, such as Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and Chelmno. Others were kept in ghettos with terrible living conditions in order to segregate them from the rest of society. Regardless of the suffering, these people miraculously managed to keep their head up and look on the bright side. To some, it may be a mystery of how they stayed strong. However, it is clear that love, nature, and humor allowed human spirit to triumph during the Holocaust.
Over 11 million men, women and their children were killed during the Holocaust, but, more than half of them were Jewish. Innocent human beings were abducted and put into concentration camps from 1933 to 1945, where they were tortured and forced to work long hours, each day, without food or water. Eventually, more than half of the Jews were killed and only a small amount of them survived. The Holocaust happened because of one man’s plan to rid the world of all Jews. He was determined to succeed. Adolf Hitler began a movement that resulted in the execution of six million Jews.
The holocaust was established by hitler to execute even more jews. About 6 million jews lost their lives during the holocaust. German authorities targeted groups that had a different racial inferiority. During world war II the germans went by the “final solution” a policy to murder all jews. The holocaust was a big shock for the jews. This dramatic experience still haunt the streets of germany.
The holocaust was a scary and rough time for Jews. They were taken from their homes and forced to work in concentration camps until they died. Things were pretty hard on them yet they still found ways to shed a little bit of light on their situation. That leads me to this question; how did spirit triumph during the holocaust? Love, laughter and nature were all ways the human spirit triumphed during this sad time in history.
The Holocaust destroyed over six million Jews; half of the Jewish population disappeared. Honestly there is not a human act as brutal and fatal as the Holocaust that has happened in the
The Holocaust not only affected the areas where it took place, it affected the entire world. Even though Jewish people were the main victims in the Holocaust, it also left lasting effects on other groups of people. Both, the Nazi and Jewish decedents, still feel the aftermath of one of the most horrific counts of genocide that the world has ever encountered. The cries of the victims in concentration camps still ring around the globe today, and they are not easily ignored. Although the Holocaust took place during World War Two, the effects that it had on the world are still prominent today.
This beginning of the Holocaust created an “estimate of 11 million deaths” throughout the world and the feeling that “anything was better than being a Jew”(zusak). This caused prisoners to never have the same life again. When this turmoil wrapped up with the end of World War Two on May 8th, 1945 the world would never be the same.
Beginning on January 30, 1933, the Holocaust had begun. 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust, and within the 11 million deaths 6 million of them were Jews; that means that more than half of the people who died due to this genocide were Jews. This genocide was also known as the Holocaust. Fortunately, this massive genocide ended on May 8, 1945. There are many other genocides, such as the Rwandan genocide that had 800,00 deaths and only lasted about 100 days. The most captivating one is the Holocaust because many people died and during the period of the Holocaust not a lot of people knew what was going on. There were many victims of the Holocaust, and most of which could not get help. The Nazis were able to get away with a massive number because they had a secret weapon called dehumanization. Dehumanization is the process of depriving a person or group of positive human qualities. Many wonder how the Jewish population became dehumanized; circumstances such as propaganda, experimentations, and the Jews always being blamed for everything show how the Nazis dehumanized the Jews easily during the Holocaust.
The Holocaust was one of the most horrible and dreaded events in history. Millions of Jews were killed, leaving many families devastated and hopeless. With the goal of racial purity, Adolf Hitler- along with many other Germans believed the Jews caused the defeat of their country, and led the Nazis to the elimination of Jews. For this reason, “Even in the early 21st century, the legacy of the Holocaust endures…as many as 12,000 Jews were killed every day” (The Holocaust). Later, Hitler organized concentration camps, where mass transports of Jews from ghettoes were brought and typically killed also. However, the fortunate Jews that were not killed still had many restrictions on their
The Holocaust was the murder and persecution of approximately 6 million Jews and many others by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The Nazis came to power in Germany in January of 1933. The Nazis thought that the “inferior” Jews were a threat to the “racially superior” German racial community. The death camps were operated from 1941 to 1945, and many people lost their lives or were forced to work in concentration camps during these years. The story leading up to the Holocaust, how the terrible event affected people’s lives, and how it came to and end are all topics that make this historic event worth learning about.
Throughout the endless history, there were lots of important and influential event. For example the Dark Age, Enlightenment, Civil War, World War I and II and the Cold War. Over all of these event, there was one event that deeply influence the world and the Jews today, it was the Holocaust. Holocaust, a term that people use to describe the horrible event that happened during World War II which kill millions of innocent citizens. The Holocaust started at January 13, 1933, when Hitler became the leader of Germany. It continued until the V - E Day, which happened on May 8, 1945. 6 million Jews, and 5 million non-Jews were killed during the Holocaust. The causes and effect of the Holocaust was Hitler’s racism, poor economic conditions, and the death of 6 million Jews which led to the creation of the nation of Israel.
The Holocaust was one of the most horrific events in history. It involved the systematic mass slaughter of European Jews and certain groups of people that were unable to meet the standards of the Aryans. The Holocaust involved the slaughter of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators under Adolf Hitler. The three main causes of the Holocaust were, Anti-semitism, Propaganda, and Hitler.
