Goal #1 – Completing this course having learned something I can apply toward my career. I would like to complete this course and take away something that I can implement with my own employees or myself. I look forward to seeing what the course has to offer.
Goal #2 – Work / School Balance I took the summer semester off to concentrate on developing my team at work. I was concerned I would not be able to make time to focus on work and school at the same time. This semester I chose to take 3 courses. While they are all not at the same time, I want to work on organizing my work at the office so that I am able to devote the necessary time for my own education. This will also mean working slightly less hours.
Goal #3 – Organization One of

In addition, what I hope to get out of this program is the starting tools to become successful in life, such as help with résumé/cover letter writing and interviewing skills. This course has been an eye opening and thought provoking experience for me. I completely underestimated this course when I first enrolled. Reading the description I thought it would be a simple class on business ethics, focusing on the ways to do things in a professional manner. I could not have been more wrong. When I go to any type of training I ask myself what I took away from the experience. Before I get into the actual course and what I enjoyed about that, I first must say they the instructor staff was by far the most impressive. Like many of my fellow classmates I am a working adult with children one of the biggest fears I have about a web based course is that the flow of instruction is going to be difficult
2. Explain why you took this course and what you hope to learn from it.
The four-day school week has gained quite a bit of traction in the United States as of lately. In fact, The Education Commission has estimated that hundreds of districts in 17 states have made the transition. Also, there are state officials present within Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon and all have reported increases in the four-day schedule. It is a movement that grows by the month and is the way forward in education. Colby Public Schools absolutely should transition from a five-day school week to a four-day school week due to the benefits of this system. Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to a four-day school week as it will lead to a saving of money, better in-depth interaction,
Learning, advancing and achieving are my three educational goals at Colorado Christian University. It has been a tough learning experience, but with the help of teachers and classmates, makes for an excellent learning experience. Learning, advancing and achieving is the only way I know to succeed.
In Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Three Ways of Meeting Oppression” Dr. King gives us three ways in which oppressed people such as African Americans dealt with their oppression. The first one is acquiescence in which individuals let themselves get dragged into their own oppression. If one accepts their oppression it simply means that they are proving to the oppressor that one is inferior. The second way that oppression is dealt with is violence. Violence does not solve any issues within the oppressed it only causes more issue as well as hatred. Finally the best way one should deal with oppression should be non-violent resistance. According to Dr. King it will work against the oppression not the oppressors themselves. Although I
As an athlete in high school, time management is needed to complete everything on your agenda even with extra-curricular activities in the way. Living overseas, I had the privilege to travel to other countries for athletic events. These events could last a weekend or even a whole week and work will gradually pile up. If we didn’t have it or it was incomplete it will result in a zero without a chance of making the assignment up. In college, I occasionally make time for fun and activities outside of my education. There are several distractions from friends, athletics, to even leisure time that may get in the way from my school work. My education is mandatory and my priority!
Should School start later? In the article “The Teen Who Woke Up Her School” by Jane Bianchi and “Should School Start Later? By Junior Scholastic, Plus the news report “Should Student Start School Later in the Morning” By ABC News. All are in support of school starting later. This shows that school start to early, schools need to start later and need to be supported by the community!
I hope that throughout the course of this program I will be able to understand better why I chose to make some of the choices that I did. I also hope to learn how to act more professionally and mature. If I can identify the reasons why I may have done what I did, or didn’t do what I should have - I think I can come to terms with them and resolve underlying issues that I may have. In addition to this I hope I can develop a higher level of respect for others by being able to think about where other people are in relation to me
A summary of my professional & personal goals as well as your motivation for pursuing a degree:
1) How are you going to plan to study this course? How are you going to utilize what you will learn in this course to your professional practice field in the future?
Balancing work and school are very similar to balancing sports and school. For both, you have to find time to study and do homework in the small amount of free time that you have either before or after school. Although unlike sports, you can get a free sixth period so that you can have a little bit more time to study or work on any homework or projects through work experience.
Juggling work and school, finding time for having fun, and liking what someone does, these are some of the problems that plague young adults today. If a person that fits those requirements is looking for a little extra income, this writer knows just what the doctor ordered. Working as a waiter is a very fulfilling job, especially for a young adult student. With flexible hours and uniforms, decent pay, and working in a fun atmospherewith many different types of people, being a waiter is an excellent job for a student.
Many secondary schools are beginning to question the impact that a school schedule has on student learning. Some schools are trying innovative schedules designed to provide choice and variety for high school students. Recently, San Luis Obispo High School was asked by our Superintendent to reconsider our current trimester schedule (see Appendices, Figure D) and review other alternative schedules that would benefit the increasingly diverse students of San Luis Obispo. Students, parents, and many teachers have been upset by this request and fail to see the validity of changing the schedule. Teachers were told that the trimester schedule is inequitable as the three trimesters equate to two semesters, thus students at SLOHS are receiving an unfair advantage over students at our sister school, Morro Bay High School. Additionally, the claim was made that those students who are socio-economically
