Handicap students need to go outside to travel to their classes outside like going to trailer 1 and 2. Woodlynde School really needs to do something about this to help keep the handicap students happy and safe. This is why I been thinking about what will happen if it rains or if the weather is dangerous outside, those handicap students would need to walk through all of that to get to their classes. These students will be mad and angry about going all the way around the school to get to their classes, even the students that are pushing the students in wheelchairs outside to the classes would even be mad about walking through the terrible weather. But they know they are just helping a friend out. Even if the students in wheelchairs who moves around by themselves aren’t safe going downhill to get to their classes, it isn’t really safe. …show more content…
Then, if that happened and the student gets hurt or worse, the parents will probably sue Woodlynde School and the heads of the school for not keeping their children safe. It would be terrible for Woodlynde School, this accident could get on the news and parents wouldn’t want to send their child to this school anymore. Woodlynde School would lose a lot of money and go out of business. So I think this school should focus on making this school better for handicap students, maybe build something outside like a small fence with something covering the top and sides. It would be like a small tunnel, which could be used by handicap students in wheelchairs when they go outside to their classes. It will keep students from getting cold or wet in the terrible weather, when they go outside. But this is just an opinion on what Woodlynde School should
Imagine a woman with powdery, permed hair who smells of hairspray and flowery potpourri. She is an 87-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who has found a new home at a retirement facility after her husband of 56 years passed away, but now that home is being taken from her. In its 48 years, Oaknoll, a retirement home and care facility located in Iowa City, has been a home for hundreds of residents. As a nonprofit organization, Oaknoll has little to offer the city financially. It does not pay property taxes and sits upon prime property along bustling Benton and Oakcrest streets. With the closing of Oaknoll, Iowa City plans to sell the land, potentially valued at over three million dollars, to private owners for the construction
Instead of the Beck and Charles telling a story of a significant person to make a point the Authors discussed the original argument for the United States Constitution. The argument was originally written by the federalists in the late 18th century. These historical documents are commonly referred to as the federalist papers. Beck and Charles go over seven different topics and arguments discussed in the federalist papers.
“It is tedious to have to always obtain a pass from a teacher. Most of us are responsible almost-adults, and it would be nice to be treated as such.” Spoke one student who described her grades as ‘fantastic’ and regularly attends tutoring and club meetings. On the other side of the spectrum with a 16.7% of students who take a liking to the passes, one student said that they believe the passes keeps students from leaving and or going places that they are not allowed. But the 16.7% of students still do not surpass the 53.3% who said that they want it removed and 30% who don’t care, with this it is clear what the students of Cedar Ridge think. Some alternative options the students gave were to let them freely change locations and if they cause
As we were driving down Main Street, we felt the sudden change from the smooth pavement to historic brick road as the Uber rolled to a stop onto the corner of Exchange and Main. As we exited the Uber, we were immediately surrounded with an overwhelming aroma of food, cattle, and fresh air. As we took a look around, we felt completely out of place as two out-of-state college students in our oversized t-shirts and sneakers. Tourists, college students, and locals roamed the streets and occupied the famous restaurants. What once was known as "Cowtown" or more formally the Union Stockyards Company, is now a home to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. Home to famous restaurants such as Hunter Brother's H3 Ranch, Love Shack, and

April 20th(or 4/20) is an unofficial high holiday that has been mainstream for a long time. Its vastly celebrated by many pot-smokers and a recurring topic to all when april approaches. Since the new legalization laws, festivities and rallies are becoming more common. Celebration of 4/20 has become a trending topic in states where marijuana possession is legal. Without the growers of medical and recreational marijuana this holiday would be extinct. Lately there has been a substantial lack in diversity with licensing growers with Maryland.
myself, (I’ve run 51 marathons-5 Boston) I met Dick Hoyt at the Boston marathon where he was selling his book. Dick Hoyt has a son, Rick, with cerebral palsy. While Dick runs the marathon he pushes his adult son Rick in a jogger, in fact he invented the original baby jogger. This started many years ago, back in the day when Rick’s parents were told to put him in a home and forget about him. They refused and insisted on giving him as typical a life as possible. At any rate, while Rick and Dick were out running marathons Dick’s wife, Judy, was out working on the laws of our country. She was instrumental in getting special parking for people with special needs as well as changing the sidewalks so people with disabilities could function better outside. I remember when they changed all of the sidewalks I didn’t think much about it but later experienced how great it was not to have to jump the curb while riding my bike or running. In fact the lowered curbs are better for people with strollers and wheel chairs, the visually impaired, the elderly; and for people with small children and even pets. It’s just better for everyone. So why not? It just makes good common sense to facilitate the environment to be universally comfortable for everyone so we can all function and thrive. And it makes the same good common sense to do the same in the classroom.
Students also need to be able to stretch and get out of the school for a little bit. The students are sitting all day working hard, so they should be able to leave the school to stretch and walk around. There are some schools that let students go to the hallway
Our school was also not handicap accessible. Our special education classes were outside in the portable buildings. The principal had to contract someone to build ramps to the doors on the portable buildings, and in the main building in order for those student to get in to the lunch room. The bathrooms had to be upgraded to become handicap accessible.
When we heard about the school, we expected would be built before the school year began. However, we found out that the land had not been cleared so all of the classrooms were in singlewide trailers with metal walkways connecting them to each other. This would create a distraction for the classrooms whenever people would walk on them. This noise was particularly distracting for children with sensory disorders. The reality is with all of the outside distractions, the teachers would need to stop the lessons and wait for the noise to be reduced or gone completely before resuming the lesson plans. We learned that the public school is in a permanent building, usually constructed of masonry structure to help reduce outside
Schooling for the disabled requires a special environment—one that only a few teachers have the gift to care for. Instead of looking out for the child’s
