The set design can rise the most challenging because of the differences in stages at each venue. Also each part of the set has to travel to each city this show is being shown at. Kinky Boots takes this problematic situation and uses it to create a wonderful set up. This was a proscenium stage to support the few different layers of the story. The three main settings for this store were the inside of the shoe factory, the outside of the factory, and the runway for the showing of the shoes in Milan. The unique thing that this production did was to have a background that applied to most scenes and on set item in the middle that was turned to apply to each different setting. At the beginning the show opens with the inside of the factory. Showing a set of stair that lead up to an office, it gives this set design a multiple level building while we know these is only one level to this stage. This staircase is used in many ways throughout the whole show. In other scenes it is used as a bathroom that is on the backside of the stairs and a simple brick wall on another side. The thing that really caught my attention when it came to this numerous use item was that the actors would be moving it. The lights going down hid none of the movements that would be done. When it debuted, the show opened to critical acclaim with Billy Porter and Stark Sands originating the roles of lead characters Lola and Charlie. Since its Broadway debut, Kinky Boots has been a smashing commercial success. Over the years, Kinky Boots has swapped out the actors in its cast many times. The movie is inaccurate in a way that is portrays soldiers having to leave their jobs, when they really did have jobs they had to leave. The movie is accurate in most scenes. Its accuracy proves to be correct in the scenes that women had to step in as nurses and help the wounded, soldiers leaving their loved ones, the horrible conditions that the soldiers had to fight through, and when groups of stable soldiers went to the field’s aftermath to rescue wounded soldiers and their loved ones. Overall, the movie is consistently accurate all the way through to show how the Civil War impacted the American lifestyle.
