Women's Inequality Caused By Climate Change

Inequality varies across the world and each has a different levels of how unequal it is. It can be subtle or very extreme. Some countries have progressed further to equalize more than others but the fact is inequality exists everywhere. Women’s inequality is one of these varied levels but exists everywhere and in many forms. Now that climate change is showing its presence, women are facing the effects of the changing climate.
Many of these people that live this sustainable way are indigenous peoples and have been displaced by the government or by natural disasters caused by climate change. This is where the majority of the poor are women that rely on the natural resources around them to survive. The changing climate can afflict disastrous changes to these resources. Another impact from desertification is the loss of water. Women also gather water for whomever they provide for, and will have to walk longer distances to find any source of water and new sources of food. The affected resources is not the only problem; the decision making over the fate of the land is another part of the difficulty for women. In most of the poorer countries, men have the control of the land and what becomes of it. They make the laws and usually women do not have a political voice in the decision. Laws in most of Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia discriminate against women in regards to ownership of properties. Few countries have over 40% female politicians participating in governmental roles. Most countries in Africa and Asia only have 20-30% of female politicians in the government. These are the countries that have laws against women, and it solidifies the inequality in these nations. Climate change is affecting the globe, but as was said before many of these nations face issues when it comes to climate change. The Zika Virus is another issue that comes with climate change due to the warming temperatures. The mosquito is expanding its territory and carrying a new disease that affects new born babies in their development. Many government provide male contraception through insurance, but do not provide it for women. The situation could be stalled with birth control provided so infants are not born until a solution can be thought of. Some countries like Brazil have told their citizens not to have sex until a solution and the effects of the virus are
