Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture In the article “Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture” by Ariel Levy, she accuses women of being “female chauvinist pigs”. She describe how raunch culture is changing and women are wearing less and less clothing. She also describe how she thinks this is a bad reputation for feminism. Levy ask some women about raunch culture, she was told that these women “wanted to be one of the guys” paragraph 7 (page 3).Women of today’s music, movies, and television portray themselves as sexual object based on how they act and dress. Others will tell stories about how they beat women up to show that men are more powerful. There are few rap singers who portray women in positive or respectful way. For example the song of Bitches Love Me by Lil Wayne it says “these hoes got pussies like craters, can’t treat these hoes like ladies”. Even that though this songs say, negative things about women, they will still listen to them and support the artist. Second reason why women are use as sexual object on television is because for example women who work on TV shows in Dominican Republic needs to have a good looking body, all of them have hair extension, liposuction, or have breast implants done. You would never see an ugly girl on Dominican television. This is proving that the most that a women shows, the most followers they get or the most attention they get. In movies it seems that women between twenty fife and forty fife have one function in Hollywood films. For action or sexy movies they’re always have to be young women and old women are always use for scary and boring movies.
