Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is an Austrian Composer who created a string of operas, concertos, symphonies, and sonatas that shaped the classical music genre. Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. Little did they know, the small city of Salzburg would be the birthplace of one of the most talented musical composers of all time. Wolfgang was the only surviving son of Leopold and Maria Pertl Mozart. Wolfgang was raised in a very Catholic family and was taught to remain loyal to the church throughout his life. Leopold was a very successful composer, violinist, and assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg court. Wolfgang had one sister, Maria Anna aka Nannerl. He quickly found work in Vienna, taking on interns, writing music for the public, and he played in several concerts. He began writing an opera Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail.
In 1781, Wolfgang wanted to marry a woman named Constanze. Mozart knew that his father disapproved of the marriage. His dad knew that the marriage would get in the way of him following his music career. This is all rumor of course but he did ask for his father’s blessing to marry her. Wolfgang and Constanze got married on August 4th 1782. Leopold finally did consent to the marriage. they have six children are only to survive. Their names were Karl Thomas and Franz Xaver. Die Entfuhrung was a huge success. This opera cemented Wolfgang name and talent throughout Europe. By the mid-1780s Wolfgang and Constanze Mozart’s rich lifestyle was falling rapidly. Wolfgang was in huge debt. Mozart wrote some of his most famous musical pieces. He said he was experiencing ‘black thoughts’. He fell into a deep depression. Some of his most admired works -- the opera The Magic Flute, the final piano concerto in B-flat, the Clarinet Concerto in A major, and the unfinished Requiem to name a few -- were written during this time.” He was able to pay off his debt with the great turn of events.
Unfortunately, during this time his health, both mental and physical were slowly declining. Even though he was in poor health, he was still able to conduct one last premier in Prague. That was not best choice because he was confined to the bed because of how much the sickness had progressed. Constanze and her sister tried to nurse him back to health. Wolfgang did not appreciate their help and was preoccupied with finishing what he was working on. Their help was disregarded. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died on December 5, 1791, at the age of 35. The cause of death is uncertain because of the uncertainty in postmortem diagnosis. He was buried in a common coffin. This just says that it does not matter who you are, we will all be buried the same. His wife sold many of his unpublished manuscripts to undoubtedly pay off the remainder of the debt. She was able to build several memorial concerts in Mozart’s honor. With her efforts she was able to send her kids to private school and get some financial support for
