With legs crossed at the heels and arms folded, a man leaned his lower back against the dark marble counter of a small apartment kitchen. His hair was short, blonde, and styled with hair gel. His face was rounded and subtly angular with a jaw accentuated by a rough stubbly ginger-brown beard. The beard was quite thick and dense, and appeared as if some days before there had been an attempt to neatly trim it. His eyes were bright green, almond shaped and innocent but were made slightly sinister by a thick arched brow and a widows peak hairline. Above him was a selection of dark cupboards like you might expect to find in such a kitchen, except the doors all hung open and another man was rifling through them. “The guy was pissed off with …show more content…
“flies that didn’t know there was food here!” “You’re not getting this. The flies are going to be dead in the jam mate.” “So you expect that fucking jar to fill up to the brim with drowning flies? And even if that were realistic and did happen, what happens when it’s full?” Huck was very irritated by this point. He was standing in the door way to the balcony, gesturing wildly at the jar in Ted’s hand; a fly was already circuling it. “Put another one next to it.” Ted explained. “Another jar of jam? Two jars attracting flies to a balcony that used to attract less than ten at one time? If you put two jars of jam on this balcony people are going to think there’s a dead body up here.” Ted popped the lid off of the jar. “What you can just forecast the future can you?” Asked Ted sarcastically. “You hear out someone’s plan and just know what’s going to happen?” “It’s obvious!” “Sure Huck, why don’t you use your magic powers to summon a dragon and we’ll just smoke them out. Problem solved.” Huck lunged through the door swiping at the jar. “We’re going to have flies crawling all over us!” He shouted. Huck’s flailing arms slapped the jar from Ted’s hand and it smashed loudly on the floor; jam
Huckleberry goes to Miss Watson’s slave and tells him he saw his father’s footprints in the snow. Jim tells him that his magic hairball won’t work without money, so Huck pays him. The hairball told Jim that Huck’s father comes to the barn but doesn’t know if he will stay or go. He says the Huck’s father is listening to two angels that tell him what to do. Jim also tells Huck about his future involving the two angels that are in him. Then when Huck goes to his room, at night, he sees his
“I smell the blood of an English man, be he alive, or be he dead I’ll have his bones to grind on my bread!” Jack was frightened by this and began running with the goose as fast as he could. "Stop theif!" the giant yelled as he began to run after Jack. Jake ran as fast as he could to the beanstalk. Once he reached it he climbed down as fast as he could.then he looked up and saw the giant starting down the beanstalk. "Stop that's my goose!" The giant yelled.
Pickton could have been stopped earlier if it wasn't for the negligent of the police. Crimes investigators were conscious of Pickton’s violence and appetite for prostitutes. In March 1997, Pickton was charged with attempted murder of a prostitute, who escaped the pig farm in after she was repeatedly stabbed by Pickton. However, the charges were dropped after finding out that the prostitute was a heroin drug addict. No help was given to the prostitute so that she could testify in court and let the Crown bring back the charges.
to him and decides not to turn in Jim. Finally, the last test of Huck’s
Jim’s words had a big affect on Huck, who realizes that Jim is a person, and that his feelings can be hurt.

The friendship between Huck and Jim is constantly changing with the events going on in the story .When they stumble upon the dead body of a man who has been shot in the back, Jim states, “De man ain’t asleep—he’s dead. You hold still—I’ll go en see... It’s a dead man. Yes, indeedy; naked, too. He’s ben shot in de back. I reck’n he’s ben dead two er three days. Come in, Huck, but doan’ look at his face—it’s too gashly” (Twain 38). A strong bond has to have formed between Huck and Jim for Jim to say this. He is trying to protect Huck from seeing a dead body. He does not want Huck to see something that is that terrible. Instead he investigates the dead body himself, then tells Huck he should not look at it as a way to protect him from seeing more of the evil and sadness that exists in the world. When Huck discovered that people were coming after Jim he frantically tries to alert and wake up Jim. "Git up and hump yourself, Jim! There ain't a minute to lose. They're after us!" (Twain ). The fact that Huck said that they are after “us”, when they are actually just after Jim shows that
Upset with Huck’s actions, Jim expresses his grief as if Huck actually lost him. Jim shows his ‘fatherly’ side by scolding Huck, encouraging his conscience into being a kinder person. He shows how thankful he is that Huck was lost because Huck is the only person he cares about on the journey and without him, Jim would have no help and motive to move on. This incident also illustrates how loyal Jim is to Huck.
Huck had never been able to go out a certain distance of the little shaft him and his father had lived in. His father would lock him up when he left not letting him have a place to escape. Huck wanted freedom from his father and the little town he once grew up in. He came up with a plan to escape and the plan he made was to make his father think he had been killed for an example, “ I pulled out some of my hair, and blooded the ax good, and stuck it on the back side, and slung the ax in the corner.” (Page 46) He knew that his father would think he was dead leading him to the freedom he had
Huck is confused because he initially considered himself as the abnormal one who is trying to escape a slave.
When the King goes to feel out one of the towns to see if the people of that particular town has heard of the fraud of a show that he and the Duke had been putting on Huck is planning his and Jim’s escape. Huck at this point knows that the King is actually going into the town to look for more people’s houses to rob. The Duke is visibly agitated for some reason and Huck senses it. When Huck and the Duke go into the town to look for the King he is obviously drunk. Huck runs as soon as he sees an opportunity to lose the King and the Duke. Huck thinks he and Jim are finally free only to find that Jim is gone. When Huck realizes Jim is gone and he cannot find him he actually cries. We see the emotional attachment and bond that Jim has formed with Jim. When Huck comes across a young boy who tells him of how a runaway slave was caught and he learns that he was caught because the Duke and the King tricked them. Following this encounter Huck is upset. The first reason he seems upset is because he was turned in by the hands of people he thought he was helping but the most ironic reason for his anger
There are many vulnerable populations within the United States. One of the many vulnerable populations are undocumented immigrants. Undocumented immigrants also known as illegal immigrants according to Wikipedia (2016) is defined as “the migration of people across national boarders in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country” (para 1). The United States of America has one of the largest population of immigrants. In this paper, I will be discussing the multiple stressors related to undocumented immigrants as well as the programs that can be used to help alleviate those stressors.
One possible error that may have occurred was that some of the adult flies may have accidentally been left in the vials with their offspring,
In the two-story house, there were many supplies that would sustain Huck and Jim’s lives. However, the most eye-capturing object was a corpse of a man with his back shot and bloody.
I grabbed the key and walked up the stairs to the front door. The huge door, hand-made by my father when the cabin was first built, has black-spray-painted iron trees located has if they appeared to be huge hinges. As I slowly opened the door, along with the sound of the door creaking, I noticed every thing is in its place; everything is the way we had left it. The first thing that seemed to catch my eye was the great amount of flies lying on the floor. They have been trapped in here since the last time we locked up and left. As I walked in, I threw my bags on the staircase, located to the left of the door. Before I knew it, the stairs were covered with bags of clothes needed for the fun-filled weekend. I ran back outside, grabbed the cooler with my brother's help, and brought it into the kitchen. We then sat it down right next to the fridge where it found its place for the whole weekend. My brother tried turning on the propane gas and the water, so we could flush the toilet and have lighting, because we have no electricity, instead gaslights.
